Patterned after an original 1927 teardrop model that I repaired. Like my others models, in order to come closer of the sound and spirit of the original Weissenborn, I select and use the best woods and materials possible: Koa selected based on several criteria such as drying wood, quartersawn cut, resonance, aesthetics; using of hide glue like the old models. Same thing for the finish: a light shellac-based stain is applied to recover the appearance of old weissenborn, followed by very thin layers of varnish to protect and allows the guitar vibrate at its best.
The teardrop sound is different from the hourglass models: due to the smaller body, the sound is well balanced over the range, and a little more compressed.
On the teadrop models, the wood is koa with a simple grain, no curl or very light curl (there's a "luxe" version with a curly koa wood).
